Product Overview

Stainless Steel Instrumentation Ball Valves

An instrumentation ball valve uses a bored ball that rotates 90° against two seats to open or close the line. The quarter-turn action gives instant, visible on / off control with a full, straight flow path when open — ideal where operators need quick isolation rather than fine throttling.

Kalpataru ball valves are machined from SS 304, SS 316 or SS 316L bar stock with a precision-finished floating ball, PTFE, reinforced PTFE or PEEK seats and an adjustable PTFE stem packing. The handle lines up with the flow path, so valve position can be read at a glance.

Seat Material Temperature Limits

Seat MaterialTemperature Range (°C)Pressure SuitabilityTypical Service
PTFE (virgin)-29 to 204Up to 2000 PSIAir, water, oils, most chemicals; lowest operating torque
RPTFE (glass-filled)-29 to 232Up to 2000 PSI, better at elevated temperatureHot water, steam condensate, frequent cycling
PEEK-29 to 260Up to 6000 PSIHigh pressure hydraulics, gas, chemical injection
Typical industry values for reference only. Pressure ratings apply at 100 °C and reduce at higher temperatures; seat temperature is the limiting factor. Orifice and dimensions are confirmed on the approved drawing for your order.

Why Kalpataru

Features & Advantages

Fast Quarter-Turn

A 90° turn fully opens or closes the valve, and the handle position shows the status from a distance.

Blow-out Proof Stem

The stem is loaded from inside the body with a shoulder, so line pressure cannot eject it even if the packing nut is loosened.

Seat Choice for the Duty

PTFE for low torque, RPTFE for heat and cycling, PEEK for high pressure — selected to suit your media and rating.

Full Traceability

Heat numbers are marked on bodies and recorded against mill certificates for every batch.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a ball valve be used to regulate flow?
Ball valves are designed for full open / full close service. Holding the ball part open wears the seats unevenly and can cause leakage. For throttling or fine flow control, use a needle valve instead.
What is the difference between the bar stock and high pressure ball valve?
The bar stock valve is a compact general-purpose valve rated up to 2000 PSI. The high pressure valve has a heavier wall body and PEEK seats, and is rated up to 6000 PSI at 100 °C for hydraulic and high pressure gas service.
How does the 3 way ball valve route flow?
The standard 3 way valve has an L-bored ball. Depending on handle position, the common port connects to one side outlet or the other, so it can divert one supply to two destinations or select between two sources.
Which seat material should I choose?
Virgin PTFE suits most liquids and gases up to about 204 °C. Glass-filled RPTFE handles higher temperature and frequent cycling better. PEEK is required for the 6000 PSI high pressure range and for temperatures up to around 260 °C.
